Our dancers wear great costumes. We choose to not use costume companies, feeling that their designs are overpriced and not suitable for our dancers’ specific needs. Because of this, our teachers work hard scouring traditional clothing stores to find clothing items that can be used as costumes (and in most cases, used again after the performance). We then make some alterations, add a few sequins and generally jazz them up for the stage which in turn helps our dancers shine!
It’s quite the process, as you can imagine. Recently, Miss Robin took our “newbie” teachers out costume shopping for the first time. Here are some of the adventures Miss Kayleigh, Miss Michelle & Miss Megan (pictured left) had while trying to make their costume visions come to life:
You get distracted by cute things!
You find great bargains…..for yourself!
You blow your budget (don’t worry..it’s faux fur!)
You find the “perfect thing” but it’s the wrong size.
You find something sooo cool that you wonder if you should change the dance for it?!! (Star Wars, anyone?)
Disclaimer: This blog was written for a laugh. The teachers are actually very creative and focused while deciding on the perfect costume for their dancers. We can’t wait for you to see what they have come up with! Save the date for our 9th Annual Performances at Cleveland Hill High School on Saturday May 7th!
