This month we are proud to spotlight dancer Francesca Kotowski. Francesca has been dancing for three years and absolutely loves getting to tap dance in class.
“Francesca is a light in class. She is everybody’s friend- and makes all the dancers and volunteers feel special without even trying. It’s just who she is!” Miss Robin proudly touted.
Over the summer, Francesca turned 16, and instead of asking for gifts for herself, Francesca asked guests of her party to donate to three local non-profits (one of them danceability)! Just before classes started up in September, Francesca and her Mom, Jody, dropped off a check for over $700.00 in donations. That is what the Kotowski family is all about. They are frequent donors to danceability and continually talk up the organization to anyone they come in contact with!
“I tell all my friends about danceability. Everyone can do it. I want everyone to dance. I’m so excited, this year my cousin Alex is dancing for the first time with danceability.” Francesca told us.
For Francesca’s Mom, Jody, being a part of the danceability family has been an emotional experience.
“I sit in the waiting room and I listen to the sound of my daughter’s laughter. It fills the studio. For me, it’s priceless. Danceability has made Francesca into a confident, outgoing teenager.” she told us.
For both Francesca and her Mom, the end of year annual performance has been their favorite experience, but for different reasons. For Francesca, it’s about getting on stage and dancing with her friends. It’s definitely an emotional day, “Francesca told me once that when she dances it feels like her heart is so big, then she grabbed my hand. I knew exactly what she meant because that’s exactly how I feel every time I see her dance. It would not have been possible without danceability. For that we will be forever grateful!” Jody said.
We are so fortunate to have so many incredible, beautiful and expressive dancers in our program who help make our job a little bit easier.
Stay tuned for another Student Spotlight in January! We look forward to continuing to share our dancers stories with the community!
