Ten reasons to support #GivingTuesday

dance1Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday.

We have two days for getting the best deals, now, we also have a day to give back. Whether that means volunteering, donating, finding a way to pay it forward or helping to raise awareness for the organizations that matter to you, the concept behind #GivingTuesday is simple.

However you choose to support danceability is so important to us. We say it everyday, danceability could not continue to grow without YOUR support. For the first time, danceability will be participating in #GivingTuesday. It’s also the kick off of our Annual Appeal, but #GivingTuesday is about more than just making a donation.

So why should YOU get involved in #GivingTuesday?

Here are ten reasons:

1.) Non-profits like danceability, often don’t have large marketing budgets to raise awareness. By frizz-1286sharing what danceability is all about with your friends, family and co-workers, you are helping to expand our reach in the community. Just by telling your friends, sharing our updates on Facebook or posting a photo with a dancer you know, you are helping to make danceability more visible in the Western New York community (and beyond!)

2.) It’s a great opportunity to talk to your kids about giving back. A 2013 study showed that 90% of kids between the ages of nine and nineteen donate in some way. That is a lot of passionate kids, who want to be a part of changing the world.

3.) You don’t have to be a millionaire to be able to make a difference to an organization.  #GivingTuesday is all about ordinary people coming together to do extraordinary things. Every dollar has an impact on organizations like ours.

4.) What’s a better way to kick off the holiday season then by feeling good about giving back in your community?

6.) You will be a part of a worldwide movement to help redefine the giving spirit during the holiday season. For many, the holidays are a tough time. This is a perfect way to spread some holiday cheer.

7.) It’s your chance to go viral on social media! Post an #unselfie of you giving back in the community (we suggest snapping a photo with your favorite danceability dancer), to share how you are getting involved. Make sure you tag us so we can share with our followers!

8.) Think about the ripple effect you can have if your contribution inspires just one additional person to get involved. It can set off a tidal wave of giving back this holiday season.

9.) The most meaningful gift we can give this holiday season is the commitment to work together to make this community a better place. Did you know that nearly 80% of Americans would prefer a charitable gift made in their honor over something they will never use?

10.) Just ten reasons? We have over 120 reasons, our dancers, each with their own unique and incredible danceability story. Not to mention close to 90 volunteers and 7 instructors who make our danceability family so special.

CALL TO ACTION: #GivingTuesday is taking place on Tuesday, December 2nd. It’s a day to reaffirm why YOU support danceability, and tell the world! We will be accepting donations throughout the day, and posting stories from our donors, #unselfie pictures that get taken and sharing the impact your support has on our dancers. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages in the coming days for more information on how to get involved.

THANK YOU isn’t enough. We know how important your time is and that every dollar you donate is from your hard earned paycheck. The best way we can say thanks is to continue to share with you all the incredible stories that make danceability a truly special place for children and adults with special needs and their families.

We wish you a joyous holiday season and look forward to another great year in 2015 as we share our love of dance with the Western New York community.
